We were the first to say hello, and the rest was history…

When the Norwich Historical Society partnered with the Norwich-based marketing agency Miranda Creative to promote heritage tourism in the city in 2023, “Hello Norwich” was selected as an ideal unifying message. This phrase not only offers a friendly greeting, but also pays tribute to the fact that the first printed use of the word “hello” occurred in the Norwich Courier on October 18th, 1826.

After the successful use of “Hello Norwich” in this campaign, the Norwich Historical Society and Miranda Creative approached partners in Norwich with the idea of using this message as a universal greeting for newcomers, visitors, and residents. The result is the new HelloNorwich.org, which serves as an introduction to the community and invites people to learn more about what makes Norwich a great place to live, work, and play.

HelloNorwich.org was made possible through support from CorePlus Credit Union and Norwich Public Utilities. The site’s welcome videos were made in partnership with tourism expert Sarah Cody.
